Know the true meaning of the Employment Standards Act
4/21/2009

Some employers may argue that they have met their legal obligations by meeting the requirements of the Ontario Employment Standards Act (“ESA). However, in most cases, your former employer may owe you far more than the amounts outlined in the Employment Standards Act.

The Employment Standards Act only sets the minimum standards for most employment relationships. These are things such as the minimum wages an employer must pay, the maximum number of hours a week the employer can force an employee to work without paying overtime, etc. Typically, courts will usually require employers to provide more notice of termination than is required by the Employment Standards Act. Call **or** email us at inquiry@shelllawyers.ca to arrange a consultation with Shell Lawyers where we can help you assess whether **or** not you have been provided with all that the law requires.
